It’s official people, Prince William is taken. Bride-to-be and Future Queen Kate Middleton will be his blushing bride on that regal day. Also known as “Waity Katy” she is rumored to have captured Prince William’s attention when she modeled black underwear beneath a transparent dress during a charity fashion show. Their long running romance commenced in 2001, and over the eight year stunt, they have co-habitated in a shared house. A bit unconventional, but so was their engagement announcement via TWITTER!

The first tweet came from the royal home the Clarence House: “The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton –” AOL News reported that the tweet out-scooped Prince William’s website, causing a  flurry of updates.

Soon to follow was a tweet from the British Monarcy: “The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are absolutely delighted at the news of Prince William and Catherine Middleton’s engagement.”

The couple is said to marry in Spring or Summer 2011. “2011 would be Diana’s 50th birthday and also the 30th anniversary of her wedding to his father,” Katie Nicholl — author of William and Harry: Behind the Palace Walls and royal correspondent for the Mail on Sunday — told Us.
