Are you shocked to find these images in Vogue?

Have you seen the ‘Haute Mess’ editorial in the Mar. 2012 edition of Vogue Italia? It’s quite a controversial piece. On the one hand, model Joan Smalls was the first black model to grace the cover in 4 years. On the other hand, why was the ‘no black model’ streak broken with the ‘Haute Mess’ editorial? The images speak for themselves. Please review the images below and then let us know what you think – offensive or art?

I agree, that’s very odd. And why are all of the shots so over-the-top consumer product focused, when the one shot of the black model in the spread is posed like that over a urinal? That’s really an odd spread all together, but the fashion magazines in Europe are like that. Very bizarre!
