Brands are doing some good…via social

Seeing that someone with ten times your Twitter follower base RTs you feels good, doesn’t it? You don’t have to lie — we know that feeling. The one where you start doing that little dance you only do when no one is looking. Yeah…that one! 🙂

OK. Enough embarrassment. Back to the important stuff.

Brands all over the map are taking that excitement to the next level, utilizing that feel good moment for lots of social good. They’re creating compelling messaging, be it via Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest or a blog post and they’re getting their networks to spread the word… And getting pings about mentions, RTs, and repins along the way.

Take Lowe’s and their Plant a Tweet campaign. Beyond the super cool landing page, the campaign launched this past April (Earth month), and though participants actually enter for a win a $10 Lowe’s gift card, it actually generated buzz an action that makes us all feel a little green — planting a tree! Pretty cool!

Then there’s a fabulous Mother’s Day Pinterest contest courtesy of HATCH and Dwell Studio. Expectant mothers create nursery and style boards for a chance to win a HATCH wardrobe. Where’s the good? For every board created, HATCH and Dwell donate $10 to Every Mother Counts! We love it!

A little creativity goes a long way when it comes to social media. Create some buzz and do some good!
